To begin your appointment with us at
Perfection Cosmetic Clinic in Toronto, we will host a consultation with you to go over your expectations, goals, and to confirm candidacy for the
PicoSure Pro Laser Tattoo Removal. We want you to get the most out of your treatment and see the best outcomes, therefore we want to ensure that
PicoSure Pro Laser Tattoo Removal will be the best treatment for the area and issue you wish to see improvement with. During your consultation with us at
Perfection Cosmetic Clinic, we will go over relevant medical history, medications and anything else that can have an affect on the procedure. This is also the time for you to ask questions and share with us your ideal aesthetic goals so we can develop a unique treatment plan for you.
Unique to tattoo removal, during the consultation our team will assess your tattoo. We will be noting any scarring, quality of the tattoo and perceivable depth of ink. Additionally it will be important for us to know if you have had previous attempts at removal and with what procedure and/or product.
Thanks to the speed of the PicoSure Pro laser, the pain level is greatly reduced compared to alternate removal technology. That being said, it is not painless and we will still apply numbing cream as the first step in your appointment to make it as comfortable as possible. Once numbing cream has taken effect we will provide you with protective eyewear for the laser and begin the process. Before starting the full treatment, your designated provider at
Perfection Cosmetic Clinic in Toronto will test your skin’s reaction to the laser to determine the most effective and safe energy level for your specific skin type and tattoo characteristics. With the handpiece, your provider will begin applying short laser pulses to the targeted area, while we have a cooling feature blowing cold air simultaneously. The amount of pulses required to see appropriate improvement during the session will be determined based on tattoo. Bigger and more complex tattoos will require more, as well as if the tattoo has color can also alter the technique used.
The time it takes to complete a session of tattoo removal varies greatly by size of tattoo, very small and simple tattoos can be extremely quick 5-10 minutes, but bigger and more complex tattoos take up to 30 minutes. This can be determined during the consultation when our team at
Perfection Cosmetic Clinic asses your tattoo. Immediately after your removal session is completed, we will apply a cooling press to the treated area to reduce later irritation and swelling. It is expected to see redness and inflammation at targeted areas, as well as some swollen capillaries in a few days once the swelling and initial redness subsides.
The full results of your appointment will start to show some time after your treatment, as the broken up pigment begins to leave your body you will see a gradual reduction in the appearance of your tattoo. Your follow up will be scheduled 6-8 weeks away from the previous appointment to allow for the body to dispose of the pigment. There are quite a few variables when determining how many appointments will be needed to fully remove the tattoo. On average, the majority of individuals will see full results after 8-12 appointments. Depending how the tattoo reacts to the laser, can sometimes change the amount of appointments.
Some factors that can influence the amount of sessions required for full removal are as follows:
- Lifestyle: Between appointments, if you focus on staying hydrated, staying out of the sun where possible and refrain from drinking will contribute to a faster turnover and success of your body being able to dispel the ink particles. This will help reduce appointments needed where possible.
- Skin Condition/Type: Your melanin levels, pigmentation, and whether you are fair and burn or your complexion allows you to tan can affect the amount of sessions needed.
- Age: How old the tattoo is can affect the amount of sessions. An older tattoo that has already begun to fade will disappear faster than a fresh tattoo at full pigment.
- Location: Tattoos that are closer to your center, have better blood flow from the heart. With better circulation, the tattoos tend to fade faster.
- Color: Black tattoos are the easiest to remove, warm and cool toned colors are a little more tricky. So a tattoo with many colors will usually require more appointments to remove.
